The world health organization (WHO) defines health as “A state of complete physical, mental and social well being and not the absences of disease or infirmity.
Another definition says “Health is a dynamic state of well being characterized by a physical and mental potential which satisfies the diamonds of life commensurate with age, culture and personal responsibility”. As an individual, your health is your responsibility and no other person can do it for you. It is your duty to make necessary adjustments to your lifestyle in order to fulfill your aim.
In our society, many people are dying daily from preventable causes. As you pursue money in the hustle and bustle of every day living, take your health seriously as it is only the person in great health can enjoy their wealth. Many of don’t always think deeply about what we eat and this leads to various diseases in the liver, kidney e.t.c
TIPS ON MAINTAINING GOOD HEALTH
1.Have a healthy diet
a – Emphasize fruits and vegetable a healthy diet is full of vitamins, nutrients etc
b – Eat less of sugar, sweetened drinks, processed junk, packaged food etc
c – Drink lots of water
d – Cook- use the right kind of oil for frying, lower salt intake. Don’t use uncooked salt on already prepared meals.
e – Concentrate on good fat-nuts, olive oil etc
2.Have a healthy lifestyle
a – Exercise – if you don’t use your brain, you lose it same as your muscles. You have to stay active to stay healthy for about 150mins a week,20mins each morning or evening. You can also go cycling, swimming, bank walking, running down the stairs 10-15 times.
b - Avoid alcohol
c – Avoid smoking and don’t inhale tobacco smoke
d - Devote sometime alone for yourself to meditate, read, go for walk etc
e – Be active in small ways like gardening, trekking instead of taking bikr
f– Work on your weight
g – Be clean
3.Have a healthy Mind
a– Be mentally stimulated. For example, using your day watching TV will make your brain dull. Keep your brain active, do something challenging, learn something new and task your brain.
b – Manage stress level
c – Have a long sleep
d - Be interactive
e – Be emotionally stable – Avoid depression in various forms and always find a reason to laugh
f – Avoid gambling and stay away from drugs
g> – Know your body and be aware of changes in your body and environment
h – Use your drugs as prescribed.
Developing a strategy for good health provides a way to deal with various diseases, there is a difference between medication, healing and health. Medicines treat a certain diseases but healing is a process and your health is an experience . Be safe, be healthy
